Republic Day (Speech)

Respected Headmaster, teachers and my dear friends,

As we all know we have gathered here for the Republic Day celebration. I am excited and glad to get a chance to say something about our country. This year, we are celebrating 72nd Republic day of our country. Every year, we celebrate Republic Day on 26th January, the day, when the constitution of India came into effect. It was started celebrating since 1950.

After getting independence from the British rule in 1947, India was not a self-ruled county means a sovereign state. India became a self-governing country when its constitution came into effect in 1950.

During the freedom struggle, Congress leader and famous poet Maulana Hasrat Mohani was the first activist to demand complete independence (Poorna Swaraj) from the British in 1921 from an All-India Congress Forum. On 26 January 1930, our great leaders decided to fight for complete freedom from British rule. Hence when our constitution became ready after two and half years of independence, we implemented it on the historical day of 26th January in 1950 and India became a republic country. Dr. B.R.Ambedkar had a great role in making the constitution.

I am proud to be a citizen of India which ensures the fundamental rights of every citizen such as right of equality, freedom, religion, culture, education, etc.

This is an occasion to reaffirm our commitment to unity in diversity, justice, liberty, equality and fraternity among all our citizens.

Thanks again for giving me an opportunity to speak in front of you all.

Jai Hind
